Fernpaw wandered around the Herb Field, trying to gather herbs for Firethorn. Leafbare was already starting, and that meant there could be greencough. Picking up some catmint, Fernpaw continued to look around, trying to get everything that the medicine cat and her apprentice would need.
Well, this is my first leafbare, Fernpaw thought. Who knows what could happen.
What happens when a medicine cat gets sick? Who takes care of them? Fernpaw continued to wonder about this as she grabbed some more catmint, poppy seeds, and everything she'd need to cure any cat with greencough.

Flamefoot padded into the large field. He didn't notice the young apprentice out in the open field. Sniffing the air, he padded along, and then started searching for the herbs he needed. He wasn't paying attention, bumped into something and fell over. "I'm sorry," Flamefoot apoligized, giving a mrrow of laughter, "You're....um...Fernpaw, right? From...AshClan....or SnowClan?" He watched every move the apprentice made, making sure that there was no harm, because he had troubles with cats from other clans.

"Yeah, I'm Fernpaw," Fernpaw mewed. "And you're Flamefoot, right? From AshClan?" she asked, putting down the herbs she had gathered. "We haven't met before. I haven't been to any Gatherings yet, since I came here a half moon ago…" Her voice trailed off for a moment.

Flamefoot stood and stared at Fernpaw, "Yes, I'm Flamefoot." Turning his attention away from the young apprentice, he mumbled, "I need some burdock root and, um, cobwebs. If only I had an apprentice to help." Flamefoot ducked under the tall grass of the large field, and stared at the apprentice who just set her herbs down. He thought of what herbs she had there to see if he needed any, but there was nothing really. Poking his head up again, he shook at a thought he just had, and it was obvious that he shook.

"I can always help if you need anything." Fernpaw mewed. She knew it was a little impolite to poke into some other cat's thoughts, but it felt like she needed to. "Firethorn isn't too busy right now, and I have enough herbs to bring back to her. Oh, and there's some burdock root over there," she added, flicking her tail in the direction of the herb. Flamefoot nodded at Fernpaw and mewled, "You don't need to help me, but thanks, Fernpaw." He padded over to where Fernpaw had said there was burdock root. He started digging into the ground when he found the burdock root. His ears pricked up at every sound the apprentice behind him made for he was hoping she wasn't sneaking up on him.

Thornflower padded into the herb field and sighed. There were two other cats from the other Clans, but she did her best to stay clear of them, not really wanting to talk. She was here to get herbs and nothing else. "Lets see...I need some Chervil, Borage, poppy seeds and colts foot." She said with a nod to herself before starting her hunt.

Flamefoot noticed the other cat that had just entered the field. He nodded at her and carried on, noticing she didn't want to talk. She will come over if she wishes to talk with us., he thought, frowning. He stared at the ground, trying not to look up and meet the she-cat's gaze, but it didn't work. He found himself padding over to the she-cat and gazing into her beautiful eyes.

Thornflower hung her head a little and sighed. It would be rude if she told him to go away. She sat and waited for him to approach. "Hello Flamefoot." She said with an acceptable greeting tone, not to over-friendly, but polite.

Flamefoot stopped. "Hello, Thornflower. How are you this day?" he meowed, staying at a distance so he wouldn't annoy her. He looked down and saw cobwebs. He wrapped a bunch around his forepaw and looked back up.

"I'm well thank you..." She said with a polite nod. "How about yourself? And how are things in AshClan?" She then spotted some poppies near by and padded slowly over to then, flicking her tail at Flamefoot, inviting him to follow if he desired.

Flamefoot padded over to Thornflower. "Things are great. I just wish I had an apprentice." He spotted some more burdock root and ran over. He dug out the burdock root and ran back over to Thornflower.

Thornflower chuckled a little. "Don't we all..." She said with a small smile as she started to shake the seeds out of the poppy. "Firethorn is a lucky one."

Flamefoot gave a short laugh and came closer to Thornflower. "Yes. I wish I were as lucky as Firethorn." he meowed, looking back at Firethorn's apprentice.

"We have kits in SnowClan, but they are not yet old enough to be apprenticed." She said moving to another poppy. "I am praying for a sign from StarClan that they choose either Mistkit or Mudkit to be my apprentice."
